Meet the Akins...
Brandon & Shelly worked regular jobs while serving in the local church for many years before God called them to Master Plan Ministries. These experiences help them as they seek to prepare and equip students for their next stage of life. Brandon is passionate about helping students see the talents that God has gifted them and how they fit into fulfilling the Great Commission. Shelly enjoys seeing lives transformed by the Gospel and encouraging students to follow wholeheartedly after God. They are blessed and busy with their three kids, Addie, Lily, and Rex.
Meet the Johnsons...
Sean and Jackie love Colorado and enjoy the beautiful outdoors as they grew up here. Sean was involved in Master Plan Ministries at Colorado Mesa University and went on a summer project to Myrtle Beach. Jackie went to Fort Lewis College in Durango and was involved in Master Plan Ministries there. She went on a summer project in San Diego. They both went on a mission trip to Russia where they met and later got married in 2010. Sean and Jackie have been on staff since 2018. Sean has developed a passion for graphic arts and marketing, mission mobilization, and men’s discipleship. Jackie has a love for being creative, teaching, and women’s ministry. Jackie and Sean are most passionate about the sharing the gospel together and reaching the next generation for Jesus. They have one amazing daughter named Juliet and an awesome son named Finn.
Meet Rachel...
Rachel grew up in Grand Junction, Colorado. She graduated from Colorado Mesa University with a B.A. in English in December 2016. She loves the arts, particularly storytelling, and enjoys learning about different languages and cultures. As God continues to increase her confidence and joy in Him, she hopes to keep growing in sharing the eternal security of the gospel with current students, including internationals, at her alma mater.
Meet the Fays...
Emily grew up going to church in Durango, CO, but it wasn’t until she started college at Colorado Mesa University that she began truly pursuing a relationship with God. She got involved with Master Plan Ministries at CMU her freshman year, and God challenged her to grow through campus evangelism her senior year. After graduating with a degree in computer science, she went on a summer project to West Asia with MPM and completed an internship with Master Plan in the 2023-24 school year with the CMU team before joining staff. Emily enjoys using her gifts in lettering and computer science to further the Kingdom. She loves discipling girls and teaching at TNL and women’s Bible study.
Curtis grew up on the Front Range of Colorado and joined Master Plan Ministries at CMU his freshmen year of college. He quickly got involved serving on the music team. God provided opportunities for him to step outside of his comfort zone, and Curtis attended the Crush Fear summer project after freshmen year. The following summer he interned for Crush Fear and is excited to be joining the CMU team as a full-time staff member! He graduated with a degree in computer information systems and is looking forward to continue using his gifts mixing sound and doing IT work.
(continued) Curtis and Emily met through Master Plan Ministries as students, started dating during Emily’s internship, and got married March of 2025. They have enjoyed being involved in the ministry so far and are excited to be coworkers for Christ!

Meet Stephen...
Hi there, I’m Stephen Brewer! I have been attending TNL on the Colorado Mesa University campus for a few years now, and I was part of TNL’s servant team for a year and a half. Being part of the team really helped me grow spiritually in my early college years, and it’s been really good for me to see how much I’ve grown since then. Now that I’m graduated, I’m excited to begin my role as intern staff member for the 2025-26 semester! I’m praying that God will use this year to help me to be a good reflection of His love.
