How can Christians stand out and let their light shine for Jesus?  This is the question we answered.  Based on Matthew 5:14-16, we unpacked what God has to say about how we are to live as Christians.

Next Steps

Step 1: Have you trusted God for your Salvation?

  Yes - That's wonderful!  If you made this decision at the retreat, let one of the staff members know so we can celebrate with you and help you take next steps!

  No - What questions do you have about Jesus or Christianity?  What is keeping you from a relationship with Jesus?


  • Are there any distractions keeping you from following Christ?


Step 2: Glow Audit

  • Does the way you live stand in clear contrast to the world around you?
  • Can others see their own life more clearly after being near you?
  • Are people drawn to you?


Step 3: Have you chosen courage?

  • Where do you personally feel the most pressure to conform and why? (School, social media, workplace, friendships, culture?)
  • What are some practical ways that you can shine in the darkness: in classes, with friends, at work?
  • What opportunities has God given you recently to shine His light?  Did you take them?


Step 4: How can you shine to the world both near and far?

  • What about Saul/Paul do you find interesting or inspiring?
  • Read the following Bible passages. Acts 17:26-27, 2 Peter 3:9, Ezekiel 18:23, 32.
  • What do these passages teach us about God’s heart for people?
  • What do you wish your family and friends knew about Jesus, the Bible, or Christianity?
  • Is it easier for you to have a heart for people who are near to you or for people who are far away?
  • How might you grow your heart for people to come to know Jesus?

About This Event

Join other young adults and students from CMU and around Colorado at the MPM Three Trails Ranch!  45 minutes from Durango and nested in the beautiful mountains, this location provides a way to escape and unplug from the craziness of the world and focus on one another and Jesus.  This retreat is a great way to get to know fellow believers, strengthen your relationship with Jesus, and have a blast in the mountains at the same time!

There will be live worship, talks centered on the Bible, discussion groups, and free time for adventures both inside and out  (polar plunge in the pond anyone? - activity TBD).

We will meet at Dominguez parking lot at 3PM on Friday, November 14th, and drive down together.  Bring a sack dinner or extra cash for food on the way. We will stop in Montrose.
